At last week’s Northern Territory short course swimming championships in Alice Springs, Starplex Swim Club member Connie Jackson was the darling of the pool, winning medals of each colour and named swimmer of the meet with 2417 points.

The 12-year-old won two open individual medals and just missed out on two more.

In the 200m backstroke, Connie swam 2:28.73 (NT State record) to secure a gold medal, and in the 50m backstroke won bronze with a 32.58 second swim, less than half a second behind the winner.

With a 31.61 swim, the young athlete was fourth in the open 50m butterfly, and was fifth in the open freestyle.

From the 12-13-year-old section, she took home two silver medals, in the 100m backstroke (1:09.01) and 100m individual medley (1:13.14).
