Cricket — 27 January 2014

Travis Head and the Adelaide Strikers 20-twenty cricket season petered out with a frustrating one run loss to the Renegades last Wednesday evening at Adelaide Oval.

It was a season of discontent, as the Strikers underachieved!

There was a lack of “cricketer’s luck” and also a concern about the batting line-up in the later stages of the competition.

Much to the chagrin of the local sporting public, after Head final got a chance and showed some ticker in Perth with a pair of big sixes, he was relegated to 12th man duties last Saturday against the Heat.

To make things worse the batting performance was modest at best, and more accurately pathetic.

In a game that had no consequence, Head played against the Renegades. Surprisingly he send down one over with the ball, which cost just six runs.

At the batting crease he struck one boundary, but was out before he got started.

Let’s hope his lack of opportunities in the third generation of the game make him hungry at Sheffield Shield level during the second half of the 2013-14 season.
