With finals drawing closer, every game in local tennis is becoming vital, as teams strive for a championship chance.

In division 2/3 at the Gawler Association Courts, Willaston Red, yet again, maintained winning form with a 12 sets/81 games to 4/54 against Willaston Blue.

Willaston Red took out all of the mixed to hold a handy lead coming into the singles. Angela Edwards recorded a crushing 6-0 win, while Tanya Pettrey won 7-5 over Nicole Rozman. Blue’s Jason Rozman defeated Robert Maine 6-3 but it wasn’t enough to bring his side back into it.

Willaston United had the bye.

In division one it was South Gawler that fell to Nuriootpa. Unfortunately, no results were available. Meanwhile, Kapunda Red edged past Xavier Saints 8/88 to 8/81. Tod Street had the bye.
